Division of Malaybalay City Holds 2014 DLTSSG

dltssgThe Division of Malaybalay City holds the 2014 Division Leadership Training for the Supreme Student Government Officers (DLTSSG), with the theme: Student Government for Academic Excellence and good governance”.  This training was initiated through the efforts of the Division federation of the Supreme Student Officers and Advisers in supervision of the Division EPS in Social Studies Mr. Ralph T. Quirog. The training was also made possible in cooperation with the City Government of Malaybalay who subsidized the food and the training venue as their counterpart in order to maximize the attendance of the student leaders.

Furthermore, the 2014 DLTSSG was held on October 23-24, 2014 at Camp Moriah, Patpat, Malaybalay City and was attended by 250 student leaders with their respective advisers coming from the different Public Secondary Schools and non-DepEd Secondary Schools throughout the Division of Malaybalay City. The purpose of the leadership training was to create an avenue for the emerging student leaders to be honed in their leadership skills while excellently performing in their academic subjects. The occasion was graced by Mrs. Lou Ann J. Cultura, the Division Education Supervisor for MAPEH who served as the keynote speaker. Mr. Romeo L. Lapiceros the City Executive assistant, Mr. Micheal Henry T. Codilla a dynamic speaker who is  an Elementary School teacher from Valencia City Division and Jail Officer 1 Edsel Abratiguin from Malaybalay City jail.

Conversely, the two – day event was highlighted with the world class dance performance of the Bukidnon National High School (BNHS)  Special Program for the Arts students who performed a Bukidnon Culture inspired ethnic rendition. Vincent Jun Durias the division SSG President ardently welcomed the delegates and encouraged the student leaders to help in their respective schools by having a responsive leadership. The day became livelier when Maite Zubiri, a grade 8 BSU-SSL student, daughter of the Honorable City Mayor, and a proud Bukidnon Talent who competed in the recently concluded the Voice of the Philippines Kids Edition rendered a beautiful song during the Opening ceremony.

In the evening of the opening day, SSG got talent was held to highlight different talents of the student leaders through their gorgeous performances which have made their audience laughed unlimitedly.  Team building activities that teased the minds of the student leaders were also incorporated to promote camaraderie among student leaders as they inter-act with each other to come up with brilliant ideas while enjoying the activity at the same time learning the value embedded by it. The plenary sessions were characterized with practical skills, moral discernment and spiritual formation needed by a leader in addition to his acquired academic skills and leadership ability to become balance and well-rounded person.

As a whole, the two – day leadership training created meaningful memories as well as inculcated heartwarming values a student leader should possess while students lead their respective schools. It also reminded the advisers of their crucial roles in making a student leader academically excellent, morally upright and passionately lead.
