MCD’s Select Support Staff Completion to AIM Executive Development Program

aim collage pic2The Asian Institute Management (AIM) recently conducted the 5-day Strengthening Access and Quality Education in Region 10 Team Development and Leadership Training for the Support Staff of Region 10 on March 9 to 13, 2015 at Makati AIM Stephen Zuellig Graduate School of Development Management, Makati City. Fifty (50) participants from the Division Offices of DepEd Region 10 and same Regional Office attended the training program under the leadership of Atty. Shirley O. Chatto, Chief Administrative Officer/Officer-In-Charge of the DepEd Regional Office No. 10, Cagayan de Oro City. In Malaybalay City Division, it was participated by Paul John P. Arias, Rhysa Cyle C. Rosalejos and Jutchel L. Nayra.

DepEd’s Role in Document Security and Compliance to EO No. 608, s. 2007

doc sec & comWhat is DepEd’s role in document security and compliance to EO No. 609, series of 2007? This prompted me to ask this question after reading the Regional Advisory dated January 13, 2015 re: Seminar-Workshop on Document Security and Executive Order (EO) No. 608, s. 2007 entitled “Establishing a National Security Clearance System for Government Personnel with Access to Classified Matters and For Other Purposes”.

EO 608 provides that “it is the duty and responsibility of all government departments, agencies and offices to implement security measures that will protect and ensure the integrity and sanctity of classified or sensitive materials or information they have access to or in their possession.” This provision clearly embodies DepEd’s role. However, not all of the DepEd employees are well versed about EO 608, s. 2007. In fact, most of the participants in the seminar admitted having not known the existence of EO 608, s. 2007 until that seminar conducted by NICA.

GSIS institutionalizes reforms for a more responsive service

gsisAs part of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) thrust to promote service responsiveness and transparency, the new GSIS Board of Trustees instituted consultative meetings with stakeholders to provide update on reforms listen to the concerns of the members, and foster closer ties with partners.

In the Province of Bukidnon, the consultative meeting with the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, President and General Manager (PGM) Robert G. Vergara was realized on January 26 during the GSIS Stakeholders’ Dialogue at The Garden’s Party Venue, Barangay 1, Malaybalay City participated by the heads of the government agencies (both in the national and local level) and Agency Authorized Officers (AAO). AAO Jutchel L. Nayra presented this office.

SPED learners enjoy art workshop

art workshop_AutoCollage_12_Images1The legendary artist Pablo Picasso believed that, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.”

To keep the child’s heart for the art, the SPED Art Workshop was conducted on December 15-20 at Malaybalay City Central School SPED Center with the theme “ Every child is an art. Every child is an artist.”

The training catered to 40 pupils with special needs. Participants with varied disabilities were divided into five groups in a round robin style so as to really master all the skills. Furthermore, resource persons can have close and individualized supervision over the child’s performance.

Innovation that Counts

Crafting and applying something that is new in an organization is an innovation. It is a process of applying new useful and better ideas, and converting it into new methods, products or services. It is an idea that will provide quality improvement to the organization and will create a significant change. Innovation and change is important to any organization. Its failure to innovate and change may cause its employees, client, stakeholders and the organization as a whole to suffer.  Thus, people in it should understand the importance of innovation and change.
