Roquen O. Pabillaran a Grade 9 student of Bukidnon National High School of Malaybalay City Division was awarded Champion on Regional Oratorical Contest held March 15 at the Session Hall, New DepEd Bldg.,Upper Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City with the theme ”Legal na Ampon Ako: Anak na Totoo” (A Child Finds Worth in Legal Adoption).
Pabillaran shall represent the Region to the National Oratorical Contest on April 21, 2016 at Bulwagan ng Karunungan (tentative venue) DepEd Complex, Meralco Avenue, Pasig City.
In the Regional contest top three winning divisions received cash awards: Champion P10 000.00 (7 500.00 for student, 2 500.00 for the coach; 1st Runner Up P7 000.00 (5 000.00 for the student, 2 000.00 for the coach) 2nd runner up P5 000.00 (P3 500.00 for the student, 1 500.00 for the coach). All non–winning student participants received Five Hundred Pesos (P500.00) as incentives. All incentives and prizes of students and winning coaches were collected at the Cashier Office, DepEd – ROX Bldg., Cagayan de Oro City upon notification from the regional office thru Education Support Services Division (ESSD).
Participants to this Regional contest were Grade 7 – 9 students enrolled during SY 2015 – 2016 from nine public and private schools in the region namely from the Division of Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, Cagayan de Oro City, El Salvador City, Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental and Oroquieta City with the expertise of the board of judges
Education Program Supervisors Lucille Tesoro, Eliseo Maribao and Angelina Buaron.
Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 72, declaring First Saturday of February of every year as Adoption Consciousness Day, DepEd and DSWD have agreed through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that this department together with the National Government agencies and private organizations will support and carry out activities during the observance which aims to: heighten the level of awareness of our teachers, students and the general public on the importance of legal adoption to adopted parents and children and to encourage the academe, parents, teachers, and students to become pro-active in responding toward adoption.
