MCD stands out in WTD

“Guro Kabalikat sa Pagbabago” was the theme of the recently concluded Regional World Teachers’ Day Celebration held on October 5 at Limketkai Atrium, Cagayan de Oro City.

outstandingteacher2The “World Teachers’ Day in Festival” grandiosely opened with the street dancing competition and showdown in which Malaybalay City Division was adjudged as third placer for small/medium Division category. The street dancers were composed mainly of school heads led by SDS Edilberto L. Oplenaria with Edsel James Quemado as trainer. After the showdown, dance competition followed where MCD ballroom dancers showed off their dancing prowess.

The highlight of the activity was the awarding of the Outstanding Teachers (I, II, III) and Master Teachers (I, II) for both elementary and secondary levels, ALS Mobile teacher, ALIVE teacher, Multigrade teacher, kindergarten teacher and Special Education teacher.

MCD is the home of the best teachers. Four were awarded as Outstanding Teachers: Outstanding teacher I (Elementary Level) – Nyms M. Docdocil of San Roque Elementary School, Outstanding Teacher II (Elementary Level) – Jeremy G. Lagunday of Can-ayan Integrated School, Outstanding Teacher II (Secondary Level) – Noemi V. Hisona of Bangcud National High School, and Outstanding Master Teacher II (Secondary Level) – Lepelyn S. Valdez of Bukidnon National High School.

“They (Outstanding Teachers) are simple and they did not make shortcuts in promotion, that is why I salute these sixteen Outstanding Teachers in our Region”, says RD Farnazo during the Awarding Ceremony.

outstandingteacher3The finalists were also recognized in the said event. There were 9 finalists from MCD who were given honor in the Regional Level. The finalists were: Daylin G. Hortilano of Bukidnon National High School (Special Education Teacher), Marilou A. Labandero of Sta. ana Elementary School (Multigrade Teacher), Flora A. Buscaino of Sumpong Central School (Kindergarten Teacher), Anwar P. Radia of Malaybalay City Central School (ALIVE Teacher), Merly M. Miral of Casisang Central School (Teacher III – Elementary Level), Cynthia G. Oplenaria of Sumpong Central School (Master Teacher I – Elementary Level), Valerie S. De Leon of Malaybalay City Central School (Master Teacher II – Elementary Level), Katherine A. Villar of Bukidnon National High School (Teacher I – Secondary Level), and Argie B. Ducusin of Can-ayan Integrated School (Teacher III – Secondary Level).

In his concluding message to the teachers, RD Farnazo said, “On the occasion of the 2016 World Teachers Day Celebration, I take this opportunity to encourage the whole community to take a stand for teachers and the teaching profession. As we take the pride in the strides of our unsung heroes, let us ponder on the fact that teachers are the foundation of quality education and pillars of peaceful and progressive communities”.
